So, for your breakfast edification, we present to you a new and updated edition of the Napa Breakfast Sandwich Round-up.

Napa Breakfast Sandwich Round-up
The humble breakfast sandwich. Some of us Villagers hail from the East Coast, and there are few things we love as much as a simple egg sando. A combination of egg and cheese (and meat if you’d like) between two slices of carb heaven – bread, biscuits, English muffin, bagel, roll. Something you can grab and GO. No plate required. Here are our favorites, in no particular order.

Blessedly simple. Approaches the bodega staple. But only til 11a?

02. Golden Bagel Cafe
Feels more committed to the bagel than to the gestalt of the Breakfast Sammy – but that can be a good thing, too.

03. Journey Coffee Co.
Simple, nicely priced, tasty. But what makes Journey really stand out is that they have a number of breakfast sando options, albeit many of them wraps.

04. Model Bakery
High marks! The English muffin is iconic, of course (Hi Oprah!), so much so that it can potentially overpower the sandwich.

05. Ranch Market
As a deli, Ranch’s breakfast sandwich is one of the most customizable sandos that we’ve found.

06. Southside
A favorite of the fancy breakfast sandwich club. The shishito pepper crema is a nice touch. Potato roll is also a solid move. Nicely seasoned.

07. Super Duper Burger
Simple and inexpensive! And highly tasty. Is it bad to like a chain? At least it’s a small chain, right?

08. Sweetie Pies Bakery
We like to keep it positive here at VV. Sweetie Pies’ sandwiches are highly underrated and well-priced, but this breakfast sandwich might just be... rated.

09. Ohm Coffee
A spiritual sister to the Winston’s sammy (same bun), Ohm’s breakfast sandwich -- featuring “Ohm rub,” yikes -- is the newest on the scene.

10. Winston’s
Great roll. Good sausage. Tasty aioli. It’s filling. It’s decadent. But maybe a hair too fancy for grab-and-go?

11. Earth’s Bounty
A farmer’s market pick, Earth’s Bounty serves up an egg sando on sliced bread. We found it very solid, very solid indeed. I promised myself I’d only eat half. I ate whole.

12. Mercadito
This sandwich is what my father would call “rich”: hashbrown, cheese, spreads, there might have been an avocado in the mix, it’s anybody’s guess. Mercadito has a location in the Tannery section of town (their “River Studio”) but you can only order those online -- we grabbed this one from the farmers market.
