July 28 | SoFi Battle of the Bands
We are one short month away from what promises to be Napa's most epic community music event since Porchfest, what will later be referred to as "Napa's Altamont."
Villager sat down with event organizer Chrissy Pearce (of Jeffries General fame) to get all the details.Â
VV: So what the heck is this thing?
CP: Porchfest is our favorite event throughout the whole year, and when we found that it was cancelled this year, we wanted to make sure we save that date for them. So we decided to expand our annual SoFi block party into more blocks to accommodate more local music. Itâs a free event, so it doesn't cost any money to come down here and listen to music. We only booked Porchfest bands, straight from the Porchfest social media sites. Just like Porchfest, none of the bands are getting paid. It's a temporary placeholder for Porchfest.
The only difference is we'll have beer, wine, nonalcoholic drinks and food right in the middle of it. It's a daylong event, 11:00 to 6:00. All ages. We'll also have Connolly Ranch here on site, making flower crowns and all kinds of different things for kids to do.Â
VV: Are you excited? What are you MOST excited about?
CP: So excited. The bands are really excited and they're excited to play and they're excited to market it to their fans too. So the fun part about this event is that not only are downtown locals going to come down, but each band has their own set of fans and parents and in-laws and girlfriends and stuff that are going to come too. It's a pretty big deal.Â
I am most excited about the community aspect of it, I really like when we do the parades on the street. It's my favorite to see all the families and kids and you know, people having a good time. And so I'm excited to bring another no-cost event to the locals.
VV: Are there any secrets about the event that you want to tell Valley Villagers subscribers? Anything that no one else knows? We like scoops. Â
CP: We're going to run out of cups. (Laughs)
No secrets really, but drink tickets are going to go live on the website in just a couple of weeks, like way before the event. It would not be a bad idea to buy drink tickets ahead of time so you don't have to wait in line.Â
VV: On behalf of all the Villagers, thank you Chrissy! And thank you to all the SoFi Battle of the Band organizers!
Readers, we will make an announcement once those drink tickets are available for sale.Â
